The International Sonar UK Class Association was formed in February 2003 with the objectives:

To keep members informed of developments concerning the Class and any proposals concerning Class Rules.

To organise Championships and to co-ordinate the programme for other races for the Class.

To encourage National and International competition in Britain for the Class.

To negotiate with the Sonar Class Association on any matters relating to the Class Measurement Rules.

To promulgate information on technical development within the Sonar Class.

To promote the Sonar as widely as possible to encourage growth in the Class in the UK.

To promote the Sonar's advantages for all, including disabled, youth and women's competitions, and to organise or support events that encourage the broadest possible participation.
